Nightfall : the moment where the light downs, the shapes of objects begin to blur.
This is the time for me to paint, when the world appears
in it’s basic, primitive structure : sky, ground, foreground, background,
light, dark…
There is no longer a table, a piece of fabric, a window, things to use,
but a free appearing presence. The nightfall passes very fast,
I can almost see the light changing, so I try to paint so, very quickly,
before my vision disappears. The result is just a sketch,
and it’s all I can do, for all I see or think or feel is a sketch.
